Established in 1954, Asco Belgium became involved in aerospace business in the late seventies, and through Belairbus, it started in 1979 a long term cooperation with Airbus Industrie. Since then, Asco is a risk-sharing, single source supplier for the slat tracks of all Airbus A310, A318, A319, A320, A321, A330, A 340, A340-500/600 and A380 aircraft.

In the context of its growth strategy, Asco Industries Zaventem did two important acquisitions, namely :

  • PTG (Prazisionstechnik Gedern GmbH) in Germany
  • AAC (Asco Aerospace Canada) in Vancouver.

The "Asco Consortium" has the ambition to be a world leader from design to manufacturing of high precision components and the integration thereof in assemblies for the aerospace industry.

Today the group employs some 900 people and has at its disposal the most up-to-date machinery like multispindle 3, 4 & 5-axis, multi pallet and FMS, surface treatment facilities for shotpeening, phosphating, painting, anodizing, passivation, NDT equipment, ... installed in different workshops covering a total surface of about 40.000m².

Engineering is also a fast growing activity within the group : preliminary and detail design (Catia V.2.2. and V5 - Cadds5), kinematics, stress analysis (Nastran 2001, Patran 2001, ...), damage tolerance, FMEA, ... In that frame, Asco has been chosen by Airbus to design and manufacture the aluminum Droop Nose Hinge Arms for the A380 and to co-develop and manufacture the A400M Flap Track Mechanism through Flabel Corporation.

In addition, Asco contributes also to the new Airbus A380 program by delivering Titanium Outboard Engine Mounts, aluminum Flap Track Carriages and major structural components for the Body and Nose Landing Gear, and to the new A400M program by the manufacture of major structural Landing Gear components.

Besides its participation in all Airbus programs, directly or indirectly, Asco participates as a risk sharing partner or subcontractor in the most successful aerospace programs, including Regional Jets and Business Jets.

Sales for the Asco Group for 2005 are estimated at 167 million €.
